The Thames River Hackathon is part of the Northeast Hackathon series in which innovative people gather and hack together software and hardware to make cool stuff.

The theme of this hackathon is Transit and will feature kick-off presentions from local experts who will explain some of the transit-oriented issues in the New London & Groton area. Not interested in transit issues? You should still come! We’re open to everyone’s ideas!

Friday night we will help teams to form if you have not already formed one. Teams work through the weekend to develop their prototype and then pitch to a really cool team of judges on Sunday afternoon at The CURE Innovation Commons. There will be prizes and acclaim for those that come up with the best solutions. Not to mention, high-fives all around!

Come and meet some great people who want to create new solutions to local problems. It’s not just for programmers and engineers. Anyone can join and we need all your skills. Successful teams will have a mix of programmers, engineers, business people, artists, and enthusiasts who will connect in teams that leverage everyone’s skills.

Possible Tracks

Apps and APIs –  Pull together data about train schedules and connecting to APIs and you might discover a better flow, develop an app or create an amazing visualization.

Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality – how can you harness the power of VR to create something cool?

Make Stuff – Use Arduino, 3D printing or some of the other equipment at Spark to create a prototype of a physical product that would change the world. Or at least make us all smile.

I Hate All Those Tracks – Bring it! Come with a cool idea and gather up a team. We want to see what you’ve got.

Ticket Prices

The suggested price is $25.00, but we understand that may not be affordable for everyone and we want everyone to come! So we have some discount codes for different amounts so you can use the one that makes the event accessible to you.
