Madison, CT 06443
Founded in April 2010 by Eleanor L. Tandler, Chief Executive Officer, based on the novel technology conceived by Kurt E. Roberts, MD, Associate Professor of General Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, venture-backed NovaTract Surgical, Inc. was established to introduce innovative medical devices to the operating room that would enable surgeons to more efficiently treat their patients. With the continued focus on improving current practices in minimally invasive surgery while being sensitive to the economic climate and concerns in health care, NovaTract Surgical, Inc. is dedicated to not only providing clinical solutions but to also offering value-added products to the entire surgical suite. NovaTract Surgical, Inc. was listed among Connecticut Technology Council’s (CTC) “Companies to Watch” in 2010 and 2011 and won the CTC 2010 Innovation Pipeline Award for the Most Promising Life Sciences Company of the Year.
Recently the company launched its initial product, the NovaTract™ laparoscopic dynamic retractor, a 5mm device designed for general, colorectal, gynecologic, urologic, and robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery which offers improved tissue manipulation with its exclusive tension adjusting system, coupled with the ability to easily modify the angle of retraction as needed. The unique patent-pending retraction system helps increase visualization while reducing the number of ports needed allowing the surgeon to achieve less invasive reduced-port surgeries without changing surgical technique. The NovaTract™ was recently recognized as an Innovation of the Year by the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons. Surgical Products Magazine also recognized the NovaTract™ in the 2013 Excellence in Surgical Products Awards with second place in the Instrumentation Category.
