General Information
Founded in 1826, Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) was the first hospital in Connecticut and the fifth in the United States. Today, YNHH is a 900-bed private, not-for-profit teaching hospital affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine, serving the needs of more than 440,000 patients from Connecticut, New England and the world. YNHH’s dual role is that of a community and teaching hospital and it features a broad array of out-patient services and same-day surgery. YNHH has 6,000 employees and a medical staff of 2,400. The main campus of YNHH includes Yale-New Haven Hospital, the Children’s Hospital, the Yale Cancer Center and the Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Services. YNHH is the flagship of the Yale New Haven Health System, the most fully-integrated health care delivery and financing system in Connecticut.

Research Activities
Research, both clinical and outcome evaluation, is conducted in collaboration with the Yale School of Medicine. The Yale Cancer Center, the Adult Clinical Research Center and Children’s Clinical Research Center in the Children’s Hospital conduct a variety of specialized research.
