Thames River Innovation Places Grant Opportunity:

CURE Innovation Commons and SPARK Makerspace are co-leading the effort to apply for a grant from CTNext (www.ctnext.com/innovation-places).  The opportunity for Groton and New London to work together to be officially designated as one of the Innovation Places in the State of CT.  The state has created this program in which as much as $4.9M per year will be allocated over the next 5 years with a limited number of Innovation Places.  This grant money would help our community make investments to attract and retain talent which in turn will create new businesses and jobs for all skill levels.

The process is in two parts.  There is a smaller planning grant to develop a master plan and the full grant for an Innovation Place Designation and a minimum of $250,000/yr for 5 yrs.

We can strengthen our planning grant application by raising matching funds.  The state will award up to $50,000 for this planning phase and we are trying to raise an additional $50,000 for a full match.

We are asking you to show your support by making a financial or in-kind donation towards this project – all tax deductible.  Please as soon as possible visit www.generosity.com/community-fundraising/thames-river-innovation-places-grant-opportunity to show the state of CT that you support the idea of the Thames River becoming an Innovation Place!
